Choose Respect Champions

Bunbury Forum shopping centre has teamed up with Choose Respect to recognise and reward children in the community.

In a bid to make the community a safer, happier place, Bunbury Forum has partnered with local community group, Choose Respect. Local children can win a $50 voucher to a Bunbury Forum retailer of their choice every month, just by showing respect, care and consideration.

Members of the community can nominate a child who they feel deserves recognition by visiting the Bunbury Forum website or Centre Management Office and filling out a nomination form. Each month, a ‘Choose Respect Champion’ will be selected, receiving a $50 gift card, an award certificate and an official Friends of the Forum pin, which unlocks an array of ongoing rewards at the centre.

Bunbury Forum Marketing Manager, Ashley Hastie, said, “We’re so excited to partner with Choose Respect to reward children in our community who are acting with respect, care and consideration. Bunbury is such a great place to live, and we’re looking forward to working closely with Choose Respect to make sure everyone in the area feels safe and respected.”

The Choose Respect community group operates with a strict code of behaviour, which encourages members to treat others with respect, to support others, to choose forgiveness over taking revenge and to take ownership and apologise for instances where they may have not treated others with respect.

Bunbury Choose Respect Coordinator, Leanne Maher was looking forward to seeing the partnership come to life. She said, “It’s fantastic to see such a positive program being introduced from within the community. Having a vehicle to emphasise positive behaviour is a powerful way to help build our culture of respect and will support the work of the Bunbury Choose Respect committee community-wide.”

“Recognising and acknowledging positive actions, examples of acts of kindness, of showing care and consideration will help us grow that respectful future we strive for.”
